Processes

Quality control measureas are taken every step of the way from design to final product. This ensures our clients receive the best products available with no existing flaws. It’s the right way to do business, saving costs and headaches for us and our clients.

Each jewelry design starts as a sketch to make all preliminary adjustments and adjust all measurements for the final piece.

Using a slice of wax in the right size, the carving process takes off. This step is more an art than science, and there’s few people who can do it well, reasonably fast.

Instead of a traditional hand carved wax madel, a 3D model comes in handy as a way to make several small adjustments to the design and have a model fast. One downside is that a 3D file needs to be sketched in advance.

A master is the one-of-kind metal piece that is created using either the wax or 3D models. It’s typically treated with coatings to prevent it from sticking to the rubber mold.

In this step we make an exact copy of the master by tightly sandwiching it with specialized rubber. Great care and preparation is taken to avoid any large gaps.

The rubber and the master are placed insidde a vulcanizer, where the rubber fuses together. Time and temperature are precisely controlled in order to create a quality rubber mold. Our semi-automatic vulcanizers make the process easier but still greate care has to be taken.

After a pre-set cool down period an artisan will beging to exactly and painstakingly cut out the mold in 2 and remove the master, leaving the mold ready to create a wax replica of the jewelry piece.

The rubber mold is used to make a great number of wax replicas of the jewelry piece. Each of these are attached around on a wax rod (called sprue), just like the leaves on a tree; from it derives the name wax tree.

Great care taken to ensure every single wax model is attached smoothly to the core, so that during casting the sterling silver flows smooth and evenly.

The finished wax tree is placed in a special flask, which in turn is filled with a special paste (called investment) in a vacuum mixer. After a delicate process and the investement hardens and is placed in a burnout furnace, which will melt the wax away leaving voids in the investment.

Next, we 925 sterling silver alloy that we prepared in advance for the casting is melted on the crucible on an automatic centrifugal casting machine. The pre-heated investment mold is also placed inside the machine, which precisely controls temperature, rotation and time so the silver completelly fills all the vooids in the investment mold.

Finally, when the machine cycle completes, we remove the flask containing the paste mold and submerge it in water. Finally, the plaster dissolves we have a sterling silver tree consisting of several single jewelry pieces appears.

The freshly cast silver tree is cleaned of all plaster, and single jewelry pieces sawed off. From then on we must saw, sand, and polish each jewelry piece until the surface is just right. Polishing consists of mainly placing the jewelry into a tumbler, where rotation, water and special rocks or stainless steel shot do most of the work.

The jewelry is cleaned, dried and findings are added, charms are connected to their bracelets, jump rings and bits are soldered together: in short all pieces that were made separatelly come together.

All jewelry goes through a series of polishing steps involving sandpaper, felt, wool, nylon brushes and special polishing compounds. The final step is a thorough polish on the buffer wheel and ultrasonic clean to remove all polishing compound revealing a mirror like surface.

All jewelry is tested to ensure it meets our quality assurance standards. We look for scratches, sharp-edges, dents, missing parts or stones, wrong colors or missaligned components. We verify weight, legible 925 stamp and stone quality.

Machinery

Makes custom 3D jewelry models for rapid prototyping.

It’s primary use is to thin wire and sheet metal and it is also suitable for a range of other tasks such as imprinting patterns and textures to silver.

Cost effective polishing machine that helps with initial polishing and deburring.

A pressurized, rotatory machine specialized for casting sterling silver jewelry.

Compact welding system to perform silver metal joining and jewelry repair.

Jewelry is cleaned while sibmerged in an activted liquid via high-frequency waves.

Rubber layers are fused together under the pressure and heat provided by the machine, to create a ruber mold for wax masters.

By entering the rubber mold parameters, this machine injects a precise applunt of wax into the rubber mold, creating wax masters.

Mix the paste around the wax tree in vacuum conditions to limit bubble formation.

Accurately monitors and adjust temperature for a clean wax tree melt.
